Note that the global choropleth (heat map) only shows 2 stories from the United States.  Those are stories that selected a country other than the US and then selected the U.S.  The vast majority of the U.S. stories are shown in the choropleth by state of the U.S.  Currently there are 472 stories from the U.S. and 281 stories from other countries.
